POND — TERAGRAM BALLROOM — 12.17.2022
The marquee of the Teragram Ballroom softly lit a long line of heads (bodies were connected to those heads, of course) who were waiting to see opening act Cryogeyser and Aussie rockers and Tame Impala offshoot Pond. Although Pond doesn’t have as large of a following as their sister band Tame Impala, the fans are as diehard, if not more so.
Cryogeyser kicked off the night with their 90’s inspired shoegaze, melting the crowd with their warm 7th and 9th note extensions. Vocalist/guitarist Shawn Marom joked with fans between songs and proudly repped the valley, her hometown, several times.
As the show continued, the crowd grew thick with eager fans as Pond’s set time drew closer, making it difficult to move. But once that first chord was struck and Nick Allbrook of Pond did his thing, nothing else mattered. It was a truly amazing show.
Pond’s latest album, Live at the BBC, is out now.
