What better day to have an album release concert for a heavy shoegaze band than Black Friday, an American holiday associated with violence, death, and mindless consumerism—you know, all the things that Thanksgiving tries to repress about the U.S.

Trauma Ray is all about un-repression and the release of energy. Trauma Ray singer Uriel Avila urged the crowd to mosh, stage dive, and unleash their id. Of course, the crowd obliged, resulting in mayhem and manic energy—something lacking in many live concerts nowadays. Toner, Luster, and Slumped opened, but the highlight of the night was Trauma Ray.
